Observation

110-300-0260(1)(a) (b) Licensee had bleach wipes accessible in the girl’s bathroom on the counter. There was miracle grow plant food accessible in the three-year-old room on top of a shelf, staff stated it was not put away from another staff member. 110-300-0260(1)(b) Licensee had cleaners accessbile in the kitchen area that the licensee states he does use with children for stem activities. Dispute Description: Please remove reference to 110-300-0260(1)(b) from this observation as it is cited elsewhere in report. If presence of poisonous or dangerous substances bathroom and three-year-old was a serious safety concern and was required to be fixed in five business day, why did the DCYF take eight business days to notify me as director of this concern. I was not available for the walk through, as I was making lunch for the center’s children. Nor did the visiting licensors take the time to point out to me, the Director, any of the serious concerns noted before leaving the center. Please explain who the Plant food was accessible to? It was on the top back of a four-foot-high shelf. In a room of children, whose hands barely reach that height, with no ability to bend articulate and grab a box they can’t see from their vantage point.
